There is no new iso, just click to "liveupdate", and you will have system updates :

  • kernel 3.2.12
  • glibc 2.12.1
  • Xorg 1.9.5

Note : LinuxConsole 2.0 will be buildt with http://code.google.com/p/dibab/

1. Very fast boot :

  • Using dash instead of bash
  • Using initramfs instead of initrd
  • Modules management completely rewritten (no more cache, all modules mounted once)
  • Lxde is started 4 seconds after kernel starts into Virtualbox
2. LXDE/Pcmanfm now default session
  • Icewm/rox filer can also be used
  • lxlauncher will be used for the game center
3. New module management
  • new tool : lcmtool to manage modules (lcmtool install, lcmtool search, lcmtool upgrage, lcmtool build)
  • build modules fast and easy (with lcmtool build)
  • Because I have no time to maintain all modules, a lot of modules should now be available only with building ( current list at http://jukebox.linuxconsole.org/modules/2010/src/app/
  • modules could be merged for a faster boot

4. New tools

  • Select Time Zone
  • Wicd can be used to setup wireless connexions

5. Install it

  • on liveUSB (using unetbootin )
  • on liveCD (burn ISO)
  • From windows : new installer, very small (<2Mb), modules, kernel and initrd are downloaded just when installing
6. Applications
  • Latest firefox, Latest Thunderbird, Latest flash player (all those applications need internet to be automatically installed with your language)
